In a momentous celebration of musical heritage, Damon Batiste, a prominent figure in Louisiana’s vibrant music scene, will be inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame this evening. Known for his dynamic performances and deep roots in New Orleans’ rich musical traditions, Batiste’s induction is a tribute to his enduring impact on the genre.

Damon Batiste hails from the legendary Batiste musical lineage, often celebrated as NOLA’s Royal Family of Music. His father, David Batiste, and brother, Russell Batiste, Jr., have left an indelible mark on the New Orleans music scene.

On October 10, 2024, a heartfelt celebration marked the one-year anniversary of Russell Batiste, Jr.’s burial, honoring his legacy and the Batiste family’s profound contributions to music. This special event took place at the New Orleans Riverwalk, reflecting on the lasting impact of the Batistes’ artistry.

Throughout his career, Damon has been an ambassador for New Orleans music, recently showcasing his talents at this year’s Juneteenth Festival in Washington, D.C., where he joined a stellar lineup of musicians to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of African American music.

Celebrating 25 years.
